Drink from the Living Water

We are all borned with an insatiable thirst for God. Yet, many a times, we failed to recognise this and instead tried to fill this vacuum with what the world can offer.

My people have committed two sins: they have forsaken me, the spring of living water... - Jeremiah 2:13

If we continue to allow ourselves to be filled with God's words, God will meet our deepest need.

Jesus answered, "Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life." - John 4:13-14

What a Friend!

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. - Psalm 34:18

If you are feeling down today, know that the Lord is close to you. Know that the Lord has a history of using the insignificant to accomplish the impossible. What a friend we have in Jesus!

Are you telling them what you know?

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth. - Acts 1:8

This entry is in honour of our brothers and sisters, who are away from their comfort zones, in order to tell those who have not experience His love. Let those who know tell those who don't. May His harvesters continue to receive the power of the Holy Spirit.

To those of us who are still in our comfort zones, would Judea and Samaria be your neighbourhood, school or workplace?

FIFA World Cup Germany 2006 has begun!

"Those who, when they are in power, turn and toss others, will be justly turned and tossed themselves when their day shall come to fall. Many who have thought themselves fastened like a nail may come to be tossed like a ball." - Matthew Henry's comment on Isaiah 22:18

It's interesting that a bible verse relating to "ball" carries so much weight. Let's be accountable for our actions, be humble, knowing well that it is God who has provided us with the resources we have, so that when Judgement is here, we'll not be shown the red card.

Lukewarm

I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth.
- Revelation 3:15-16

How would you like your coffee or coke? How do you deal with subordinates who is lukewarm in their work? I'd remove this person from the "busy" actions and set this person in perspective. Likewise, we know we need to be the torch bearer for Christ. Continue in running the good race and allow our love of God to be as fiery as the love He has for us.

Jesus loves the little children

"Jesus loves the little children, All the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white, All are precious in His sight, Jesus loves the little children of the world."
- C. Herbert Woolston & George F. Root

When Jesus told His disciples to allow the children to come to Him (Matthew 19:13-15), He showed God's love for all. Let us enjoy the children around us as they are meant to be rewards and heritage from God (Psalm 127:3). If you do not have any children, you may like to consider sponsoring one from a less privileged region (see World Vision).

Eye of God

I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.
- Psalm 32: 8

I read with great interest about an email circulating around, professing that NASA had taken a photograph of the "Eye of God" using the Hubble Telescope. It is actually a rendition of the Helix Nebula (see here). While there is no evidence for the Eye of God, we can be assured that He will watch over us!

There is no darkness

... God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.
- 1 John 1:5

Today, I chanced upon the "God is light" flash movie (click here), and I'm inspired by its message. Truly, often when I was down, enshrouded by the darkness of this world, and trapped in a hole in the ground, I would tell myself that I can dig myself out of the mess I'm in, only to find myself going deeper. Only then would I look up for help. And somewhere amidst the bright light overhead, stood a saviour. Oh how appreciative we should be, that He would reach out to us. May His light continue to shine upon us and fill us with His mercies and love.

Dog Theology

"Dogs say, "Lord, You love me, You bless me abundantly, You gave Your life for me, You must be be God." Whereas Cats say, "Lord, You love me, You bless me abundantly, You gave Your life for me , I must be god." " - Cat and Dog Theology, Bod Sjogren & Gerald Robison

We were created to worship God. The world does not literally revolve around us. Everything were created in accordance to His plan and pleasure. So let us rejoice that God has given us so much, even if it were not about us. Halelujah!

Love is a many splendor thing!

My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.
- John 15:12

When you love someone dearly, you'll always have company. When you love God, you'll never walk alone.

Don't wait anymore. I remembered that not so long ago, the need to be loved fueled the propagationof the "I love you" virus. We all need love, be it divine or from people around us (even animals). Tell someone you love them today!

I LOVE YOU ALL WITH THE LOVE OF GOD!!! Amen.

Pratice Hospitality

"The biblical word for hospitality means “a love of strangers.” Sometimes people who visit our churches feel unwelcome. No one greets them or notices them. Hospitality, however, can break down barriers and build bridges. It can make strangers feel more welcome than just a word in the church bulletin."
-Our Daily Bread (2 June 2006)

It will serve us well to constantly remember Paul's advice (Romans 12:13) on being hospitable. Even as someone who works in the service industry, I will go on a professional "stage" and attempt to positively impact people's experience. How then can I extend sincere hospitality in God's kingdom? What's more, I'm, in fact, an introvert by nature. I'll need to examine my willingness to go out of my way to meet the needs of a brother or sister.

Fishers of Men

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men." - Matthew 4:19

During a visit to an aquarium, as I was looking at the divers causing a feeding frenzy in the tanks, I suddenly realised that the people needs constant feeding too. Not just the food that we put on our tables every meal. God's words are vital spiritual food for all of us. Let's pray and allow God to use us as instrument to feed His people, and as tools to net those who have not experience His love. Are you following Him right this very moment?
